Being a single mother was not something Lisa had ever planned on and while it was by no means easy, it was a choice she never regretted. Despite their tight budget and limited means, Arianna was a very happy and energetic child with a mother who loved her more than anything in the world. The pair had three and a half wonderful years together until the day Lisa was attacked by a mugger on her way home from work. Severely beaten and left for dead, she lived long enough to make it to the hospital before succumbing to her injuries. Having no living next of kin and deciding against listing Adam as Arianna's father, her daughter became a ward of the state and was placed in a group home.
Over the next seven years Arianna would bounce around to five seperate foster families. Some were definitely better than others, but overall nothing too terrible ever occurred while she was in them. It wasn't until the summer she turned eight that her life would once again change forever as she was placed with her sixth foster family. Corvan and Nora Scott were different from any of the other homes she had been in. With them she didn't feel like a dollar sign or something that needed charity or to be pitied. For the first time, she honestly felt like she was somewhere she could belong, somewhere she could have the thing she and so many other children like her longed endlessly for: a family to call her own.
As it would turn out, she wasn't the only one who felt that way. After two years of living with them, both Corvan and Nora approached her with the idea of making the arrangement permanent and formally adopting her. Arianna agreed without a moment's hesitation and before the month was over, Arianna Leigh Jackson became Arianna Leigh Scott. It was easily the happiest day of her young life. Together with Corvan, Nora and their son, Max, they were a family.
Her new life as a Scott was as conventional as some of her friends' and other kids she knew, mostly due to the fact that both her father and Nora's older brother, John, were members of the local motorcycle club, the Sons of Mayhem. Though she wasn't used to that particular way of life, Arianna embraced it as part of her new existence and just like her brother, was accepted into the fold and doted upon by the other members.
When she was fifteen years old, just before she was due to start high school, her parents informed her and her brother that they were leaving the family's home in Austin to move down to Davenport in order to help keep an eye on their uncle John who was suffering more and more from his PTSD as well as to try and quell the rebellious streak that had appeared within Max. While she was somewhat reluctant to leave all she had ever known behind, Arianna was also excited to see what Davenport had in store for them.
Though she had always done fairly well in school, it was obvious upon her graduation from high school that she had no idea what she wanted to do with the rest of her life. Instead of leaving Davenport for broader horizons like most of her friends, Arianna opted to stay close to home and attend the local community college in hopes of earning a degree in business management while working alongside her mother in the club's burlesque lounge as a dancer. Dancing was something something she had enjoyed since Nora introduced her to it as a child and while this particular style was rather provocative, it was still respectful in her eyes and afforded her a reasonable living.
When she was twenty years old, she met Ben Hawthorne who was a new member coming over to Davenport from the Wichita chapter of the club. Their attraction to each other was almost instantaneous and within a week of meeting each other, he was asking her out on their first date. Much like the one between her birth parents' years before, theirs was an intense and passionate relationship and, like her mother, it was only a matter of months before Arianna realized that she was pregnant. Unlike Lisa and Adam, however, there was no talk of alternatives. Yes there was fear and uncertainty felt on both sides, but it was something neither of them were going to run from and on January 14, 2008, Emma Marie Hawthorne was born.
While her life may not be as average and apple pie as most people's in the world around her, Arianna would be the first to tell you that she couldn't be happier with the way it's turning out to be and wouldn't change a thing about it.
